The Heart Behind My Work

My Approach

Hi, I'm Lauren — I'm really glad you're here.

My work is rooted in a deep belief in the dignity, resilience, and worth of every person who walks through my door. My Christian faith shapes the way I see people — with compassion, curiosity, and hope — but I never assume my clients share those beliefs, nor do I bring faith into the room unless someone specifically asks for it. What matters most to me is creating a space where you feel safe, seen, and supported, no matter your background or worldview.

I'm drawn to the moments when people feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of who they're becoming. I love sitting with clients in those tender places and helping them rediscover their strength, their voice, and their sense of possibility. I'm guided by the idea that when the brain finds regulation, the heart and story often follow. That lens shapes the way I listen, the way I support, and the way I help people move toward wholeness.

My style is warm, relational, and honest. I'm not afraid of depth, but I also believe that humor and lightness can make the hard work feel more human and less heavy. I value a coordinated, holistic approach to care, and I regularly collaborate with other providers — offering referrals when needed — to ensure your healing process is cohesive and well‑supported.

In addition to psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and adolescents, I offer neurofeedback as an additional pathway toward healing. It can stand alone or be integrated with talk therapy, and sessions are available both in‑office and at home.

My hope is that our work together becomes a place where you feel supported as you grow into the truest, healthiest version of yourself — a place where restoration, clarity, and wholehearted living can take root.

About Me

I’m Lauren — a person shaped by my own very human experiences, challenges, and seasons of growth. Those moments have softened me, strengthened me, and deepened my compassion for the people I sit with every day. They remind me that healing is rarely linear, and that courage often looks like simply showing up. I’m intensely committed to doing my own inner work, too. Personal growth isn’t just something I talk about with clients — it’s a rhythm I practice in my own life, with humility, curiosity, and intention.

I’m a Kansas City girl through and through — born here, raised here, and now here by choice. This city feels like home in all the ways that matter: familiar, rooted, warm, and full of possibility.

I’m married to a wonderful husband, and together we share a hard‑won, hallelujah daughter who has changed us in all the best ways. She is a daily reminder of grace, grit, and the beauty that can come from long seasons of waiting.

Outside the therapy room, I’m someone who loves sunshine on my face, being outdoors, tending to plants, and savoring a good cup of coffee. I’m drawn to things that are beautiful and comfortable — spaces that feel lived‑in and loved. I’m always reading, always learning, always growing. Curiosity is one of my favorite companions.

Therapy isn’t just my profession; it’s my calling. Even if I weren’t doing this as my job, I’d still be doing this — listening, encouraging, holding space, helping people make sense of their stories. It’s the work that feels most aligned with who I am and how I’m wired.

My hope is that as you learn a bit about me, you get a sense of the heart I bring into the room: grounded, hopeful, human, and deeply committed to walking with people toward wholeness.
